About My Clients
You may not understand what's going on in your life and why you're feeling this distress, or you may have some ideas about what's gone awry. Either way, our work can help make sense of what's going on and bring a new level of self understanding, internal change, and self-acceptance. I specialize in treating people who experience psychosis, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety (including OCD) and the effects of trauma (PTSD). I am LGBTQ friendly.
My Background and Approach
My personal experiences and education have lead me to believe that psychological distress often comes from things that have happened to you, rather than something being inherently "wrong" or "disordered" about you. Distress is a normal reaction to abnormal, traumatic, and unfortunate situations, and people who are looking for therapy haven't yet had the chance to process what they've been through in a safe and non-judgmental space. I will work with you to try to heal what's plaguing you and give you hope for a better life moving forward.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that our lives are embedded in complex and often painful social systems that play a large role in who we are , the opportunities afforded to us, and the harmful ways many people in society are (mis)treated. As a white, middle class, cisgender woman from the United Kingdom, I actively work to increase my awareness of my privileges and biases. I think about the individuals in my practice, how our differences can impact our work, and I am committed to being able to talk with you about topics that can often bring about uncomfortable feelings, such as racism, xenophobia, and transphobia.
