About My Clients
I bring over 15 years of experience as an expert in disordered eating, particularly with college populations. In addition to this I have experience with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ concerns, trauma, grief, etc. I consider my approach to be holistic and collaborative, I work with each client to create an individualized treatment plan to best meet their needs.
My Background and Approach
I received my doctorate degree from Antioch University Seattle. I then completed my APPIC doctoral internship at Western Washington University Counseling Center, and went on to complete a post-doctoral internship in the partial hospitalization program at Cambridge Eating Disorder Center in Cambridge, MA. My approach is based primarily on principles related to CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy). Everyone can benefit from exploring ways to make their lives more balanced and whole. I believe that although identifying and either accepting or changing thoughts is an important first step, that the real change happens from discovering ways to make changes in our lives and becoming an active participant in this change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that society pushes us to define our value externally, but that to be happy we must shift that to being able to define our own value internally. I enjoy helping clients identify barriers and traumas that get in the way of this process and helping them few themselves of these blocks to find true happiness and acceptance.
