About My Clients

If you've been carrying more than people can see (a restless brain full of ideas, pressure to perform that never lets up, or a life stretched between Korea and the U.S.), we might be a good fit. I work with adults, teens, international-school students and families on ADHD and executive functioning; anxiety, stress and depression; giftedness, creativity and twice-exceptionality; and bicultural identity, acculturation and family across generations.

My Background and Approach

I trained in both counseling and school psychology through Florida State University's APA-accredited Combined PhD program, completed my predoctoral internship at the University of Florida Counseling & Wellness Center, and have researched creativity, giftedness and ADHD for more than ten years. I'm a Texas licensed psychologist and an Assistant Professor of School Psychology who trains future school psychologists. I draw on both Eastern and Western perspectives, just as I live in both. I mainly use mindfulness, DBT, ACT and CBT, and I don't only deliver techniques: I bring their root philosophy and an understanding of how the mind works, and we work with feelings and bodily sensations, not just behavior. I'm engaged, not always neutral. I think alongside you and stay invested in how your life unfolds. In our first sessions I'll listen closely and ask how your mind and body actually work day to day, then we shape a plan that fits you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I'm a Korean woman and a first-generation immigrant. I grew up and studied in Korea, then trained and built my career in the U.S., so I know firsthand what it's like to live between two cultures and two languages, and to navigate family expectations across generations. Psychology is also not my first career, and my professional identity is itself dual: I trained in both counseling psychology and school psychology. I carry many healthy dualities and complexities as a person and as a professional, and I welcome clients who feel the same. I believe in the healing power of creativity, and that differences don't need to be tamed to be valued.
