My Background and Approach
I use an integrative approach drawing from neuroscience, fundamental treatment theories (cognitive, behavioral, somatic, emotional, learning, development, attachment, etc.), and skill-building.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for charitable nonprofit organizations as a fundraiser, administrator, and consultant. I can be an idealist. I started working for charitable nonprofit organizations to be a part of something bigger and to be a part of helping our world a better place. I learned through my work that systems are inherently broken, despite the best intentions of those individuals working on behalf of a system's mission/purpose. Through my career in working in systems (and the people working in the systems), I learned a great deal about implementing and maintaining change. I then decided to go back to school to become an LCSW to re-focus my efforts on helping and supporting individuals lead more fulfilling lives.
