About My Clients
Do you struggle to complete personal or professional projects on time? Do you often find it difficult to remain focused on important tasks? Do you have a tendency to feel ashamed, or beat up on yourself when you procrastinate? ADHD, whether officially diagnosed or not, can present significant challenges to fulfilling our goals. I help individuals to understand how ADHD affects the way we work and think, and to employ strategies to overcome the challenges it presents, including shame and stigma.
My Background and Approach
I have a master's degree in counseling from Portland State University, as well as a bachelor's degree in psychology. Professionally I have worked in community mental health, acute care (psychiatric hospital), and private practice. I work with adults of all cultural backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, and abilities. My theoretical orientation is eclectic, but rooted in the principles of Humanistic and Existential therapeutic styles. In my approach, I also emphasize mindfulness, and I am skilled in the therapeutic use of various cognitive-behavioral techniques. I was diagnosed with ADHD as an older adult. As this is something I had to learn to navigate, it naturally followed that ADHD counseling and coaching became a main specialty of my practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Our time in this life is limited, and most of us have no idea when our own life will end. I believe the best way we can honor this gift, is to live authentically and not postpone joy - discover our personal values, and see them fulfilled.
