About My Clients
My work with adults encompasses a wide range of issues, including treatment of depression, anxiety, grief/loss, substance abuse, gambling addiction, gay/lesbian issues, and concerns about dating or sexuality, including sexually addictive behavior. I am also a qualified supervisor. I also have extensive training and experience working with adolescents, including those with substance abuse issues, mental health diagnoses, or both (co-occurring disorders).
My Background and Approach
My experience, training, and education allow me to offer you a counseling experience that will remove blocks and barriers in your life and help you establish meaningful connections, starting with your connection to your true self. In regularly scheduled sessions-usually 45-50 minutes in length-you will work with me to identify, learn to manage, and, ultimately, overcome emotional and/or psychological problems. Our discussions will reveal the basis of problems and enable you to better understand yourself and gain relief from specific issues. Psychotherapy is an active process requiring concentration, energy, and commitment by both parties. Through this process, you will learn how to gain control over your thoughts and become more empowered. Individual psychotherapy takes place in the privacy of the therapist-patient relationship. Psychotherapy also may be conducted in the context of group, marital, or family treatment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The best part of my job is truly making a difference in people's lives. Whether it is a successful intervention or being able to witness a person's transformation from emptiness to empowerment, that is what truly makes me happy. It may be a cliche, but making a difference is what it's all about for me. I see myself as an educated, experienced helper whose role it is to guide you back to your center. I see you as a unique human being who, with encouragement and guidance, can get back on track and be a happier person.
