My Background and Approach
Some sessions will be just talk therapy, while other sessions I will invite you into guided meditation, breath work, art making, creating symbolic worlds, movement, music, and writing to express and process your thoughts and emotions. Creative Spirit Counseling methods combined with talk therapy are useful for an array of presenting emotional struggles, healing perfectionism, past traumas, anxiety, depression and relationship issues. The Creative process is the spiritual and therapeutic path to experience release, cultivate emotional health and inspire a more meaningful life. Sometimes we have a difficult time interpreting or describing how we are feeling. Creative Spirit Counseling can help you express how you feel in verbal and non-verbal ways. You will learn more about your Inner Self and gain clarity about your life circumstances. No previous therapy, artistic talent, or art experience is required to experience the benefits of Creative Spirit Counseling's approach to healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I function as a licensed professional counselor, expressive arts therapist, artist, wife, mother, daughter of generations, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and "hue-woman being." These roles have been and will always be purposed for my own spiritual development and awakening. I envision a world where each individual remembers and recognizes the truth of Sacredness within Self and one another. I am dedicated to supporting others to illuminate their Inner Light through the practice of positive thinking and right action. I value Truth, Justice, Righteousness, Reciprocity, Harmony, Balance and Order. Creative Spirit Counseling is informed by the principles of African-Centered Psychology: The integration of one’s own sense of Spirit into the therapeutic process illuminates & liberates the Spirit, the Sacred Self.
