About My Clients

I use telehealth to see my Clients. My typical Client is a family member or one suffering with addiction who would like to get help as to why they are using. Addiction is a coping skill, and my focus is to find the trauma and then identify it, then change the coping skills through cognitive behavioral or talk therapy. I am culturally diverse and currently work at St. Luke's Behavioral Health hospital where I work both inpatient and outpatient groups.

My Background and Approach

Donn R. Yeager, a retired U.S. Navy Veteran who was a Hospital Corpsman for 20 years, retired in 2001. During Petty Officer Yeager’s tenure, he served in operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm where he witnessed combat and had the responsibility to mend those who suffered as a result of combat. The second half of Petty Officer Yeager’s career in the military was spent with the Marine Corps where he served at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Camp Pendleton, California and Kaneohe Bay Hawaii where he provided training and health care to his fellow Marines. Donn is a Commercial Airline Pilot and did have experience with addiction years ago. Don earned his Bachelor’s degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Professional Aeronautics and then later pursued his Master’s in Science in Mental Health Counseling.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe everyone has the potential to change. There are stages of change and if one desire's change, will change. Behaviors are taught and I want my Client to learn to be more pro-active and less re-active. I understand the trials of addiction and how it affects families. I had a son die from an overdose on Methamphetamines in 2019. I have been told since I started in this field, "every good Therapist has a Therapist" and I am no exception to that rule. Through my own therapy, I have learned to acquire more patience and better understanding of my own limitations. That said, I can't emphasize, if you set a goal and you put your heart and mind into it, you will achieve it. After all, who are more resourceful than we are (speaking for my Clients and myself)?
