About My Clients
I pride myself on using a flexible and multi-faceted approach in working with my clients and have worked with clients from every walk of life in my eleven year history working in the behavioral healthcare industry. I provide expert services for older children, adults, geriatrics, couples, and families. I feel especially well-qualified to work with clients struggling with addiction, trauma, questioning faith, or those facing distress related to discrimination.
My Background and Approach
I am certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois. I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Applied Behavioral Science from National Louis University in 2002 and went on to earn my Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Counseling and Human Services from National Louis University in 2004. I completed my Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Pastoral Community Counseling from Argosy University in 2017. My work experience in the behavioral healthcare industry is extensive. I have worked in hospital, university, correctional, and private-practice settings. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, culturally sensitive and trauma-informed. I am also comfortable providing faith-based counseling and recently completed a book entitled, "Spiritual Impartations by God."
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My passion to help others as an LPC is informed by my beliefs. I believe that our beliefs, faith, and life experience works in concert to determine our psychological well-being. So, to help others it is necessary to examine - and change - each component in this triangle of determination. I am an avid supporter of social justice movements like Black Lives Matter and have a passion for helping others who may be facing oppression because of their race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or immigration status.
