About My Clients
Have you lived through abuse? Been assaulted? Witnessed death or disasters? Have you been the victim of micro and macro discrimination due to your gender, race, religion, etc.? All these traumas, big or small, can have an impact in your life. It is not uncommon to experience anxiety, depression, or social dysfunctions due to these experiences. Therapy can help unblock and heal these wounds from the past.
My Background and Approach
I utilize EMDR and person-centered interventions to help you process and heal from past traumas. My philosophy is treating the whole person, and consider everything you bring into a counseling session: your history, your beliefs, your cultures, your identities, etc. I utilize trauma-focused and culture-informed modalities to help you achieve growth and change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I feel that mental illness is often a reaction to stressful and/or unjust situations: such as growing up in an abusive household, fighting in a combat zone, experiencing discrimination in a bigoted society, etc. My goal is to help you take back your personal power and develop healthier ways to cope.
