About My Clients
Have you ever experienced a terrible occurrence that has impacted you significantly? Do you ever feel that you’ve been affected by feelings of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem or relationship/marital conflicts? I would like to collaborate with you to discover and cultivate new ways to cope and increase your emotional resilience. Being that safe, unconditionally supportive space for you to confidentially share your story is my goal.
My Background and Approach
I view therapy as a process that identifies events and experiences that have led to challenges in daily living. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, supportive, and geared toward your individual needs. You can anticipate for me to provide you with evidence-based therapies, adaptive coping tools, effective communication strategies, and ways to make measurable changes in your life. I will also offer resources to explore outside of the therapy office for additional learning growth opportunities. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Qualified Clinical Supervisor and a Board-Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (BCD). I have been practicing in the fields of Psychology and Clinical Social Work since 2001.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
A little about me. I am a mom of four amazing adults and one bellowing cat. I absolutely love puttering around in my garden in which I have a Ph.D. in growing weeds. I believe everyone can benefit from therapy. A professor on the first day of my master's programme helped cement this viewpoint. She came in and said that everyone in the room needed therapy. When we collectively closed our mouths (because "we" were supposed to be the therapists) and started listening, she explained we needed to understand what it is like to be vulnerable, to feel anxious that you will somehow be judged, to feel what it is like to get the 'wrong' therapist and how great it is when you meet the right one. I believe I am a better therapist for this work and am grateful for her 'encouragement.' So, know I am glad you are here and understand the courage it can take to reach out.
