About My Clients
You might look highly capable outside, but feel exhausted inside. My clients are recovering from toxic relationships, tired of "walking on eggshells," experiencing "emotional whiplash," and needing to break a "trauma bond". I also work with Adult Children of Immigrants wrestling with "imposter syndrome" and the pressure of finding "bicultural balance". Finally, I support deep thinkers who are skilled at "intellectualizing emotions" but feel unable to change recurring patterns.
My Background and Approach
My style is warm and grounded. I don't believe therapy should feel like someone handing you a worksheet. For survivors of covert manipulation, cognitive reframing can feel too close to the gaslighting they experienced, so I avoid pathologizing jargon and stay close to lived experience. My clinical approach is Attachment-Oriented Relational Psychodynamic and Mentalization-Based Therapy. In plain language, we pay close attention to how you experience yourself, how you understand other people, and how old relational patterns may still shape your present life. This depth approach explores root wounds and helps untangle confusion, shame, and self-blame after emotional abuse. My sociology background and research on historical trauma and destructive leadership inform my systemic lens: I look at toxic environments, not just what is “inside” you. Before becoming a therapist, I was a personal trainer for over 15 years. Altogether, I have been in health and wellness for 20 years.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that behavior often viewed as “pathological” is usually a highly rational, adaptive response to systemic pressures, toxic environments, or past relational trauma. You did what you had to do to survive. The goal of therapy isn't to become a "perfect" person; that sounds exhausting and frankly, a bit suspicious. The goal is to build a life less driven by old wounds and more connected to who you actually are. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 16 years as a personal trainer and martial arts instructor. That experience taught me that true, lasting transformation requires looking much deeper than surface-level symptoms and engaging with our existential transitions holistically. I believe in providing a safe, honest space where you can finally drop the performative strength and be truly understood.
