About My Clients
My clients are typically individuals looking to change their beliefs about themselves and others and build a greater sense of safety, trust and esteem in order to find a deeper sense of purpose, meaning and fulfillment in life. I specialize in working with difficulties related to PTSD, depression, emotional abuse, lack of meaning, loss, cancer, anxiety and acculturation. I work well with immigrants, performing artists and individuals seeking a therapist who familiar with Catholic teaching.
My Background and Approach
I earned a BA from Columbia University in 2010 with dual concentrations in Psychology and Anthropology. I earned my MSW in 2017 from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in NYC. I completed the first portion of my three years of supervised clinical training through the Thrive NYC Mental Health Service Corps, an initiative that provided me with evidence-based training. Through this initiative I was able to establish a counseling program at a private outpatient medical practice, where I completed 3000 supervised clinical hours, eventually expanding the program to three clinicians. Independently, I have served as a Behavioral Health Consultant to Sesame Health. As of April 2023 I have also completed the Certificate Program in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy and Research (CPTR) through the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). I have received additional training in Cognitive Processing Therapy and am working towards CPT Provider Status.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While an undergraduate at Columbia University, I chose to study both Psychology and Anthropology, as I felt that the two disciplines were inseparable; I believe that we cannot truly understand a person’s habits, choices, and patterns of thinking unless we understand where they are situated. A chance encounter with an explosion near Grand Central Station during this time helped me understand the impact of trauma first-hand and sent me down the path of seeking to understand how to heal it as a result. My goal and purpose is to assist in shifting thought patterns that are not helpful and to provide hope and a new outlook to my clients. As an individual who has always enjoyed learning and deeply values critical thinking, it is important to me that I read and stay up-to-date on research to provide competent, ethical care to my clients; it is extremely important to me that the treatments I provide are systematic and grounded in science and not just passing fads.
