About My Clients
I work with couples who avoid conflict and feel lonely in their partnership, and those who fight frequently and find conflict escalates quickly. I also work with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, have a hard time asking for their needs to be met and often don't understand their own emotional reactions. Many experienced childhood trauma that hurt their sense of self. Others come for support during life transitions and/or changes of life stages.
My Background and Approach
This is my second and chosen career. In addition to my experience working with clients, I bring life experience to my work. I have been married for almost 30 years, I am a parent of young adults, and I continue to do my own personal work. I have an integrative approach, meaning we will work with how your emotions, memories and thoughts show up in both your mind and body. I also use mindfulness as a way to help clients work with their nervous systems, get to know their internal experience and build skills communicating about their emotions, wants and needs in a productive way. I want to know about your family history. Our family system shapes our beliefs about ourselves and the world, how we expect to be treated in relationships and how (or if) we get our needs met. My focus is on understanding how your history plays out in your life today. This awareness can lead you to a more fulfilling life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have always worked with diverse clientele, and welcome clients of any gender identity, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation and religious affiliation. I continuously do my own work in an attempt to stay aware of my own biases and impact on others. I am comfortable speaking with clients about differences in the therapeutic relationship and how my identity may impact my clients.
