About My Clients
I work with adults and specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, stress management, and transitional life changes. As a bilingual provider (Spanish), I enjoy working with BIPOC, members of the Latinx community, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic violence/IPV, and parents whose children are survivors of sexual abuse.
My Background and Approach
My clinical experience includes providing individual therapy, group therapy, crisis counseling, and providing psychosocial assessments through work in outpatient mental health clinics, a rape crisis center, and a hospital-based crisis stabilization unit. I am a certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor. My approach to therapy is in using evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Person-centered, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). My communication style is warm, inviting, and personable. I invite humor when possible. My approach to goal setting with clients is of a collaborative spirit. We will work together to identify what you want to focus on during our time together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My way of being with clients is in practicing a person-centered and trauma-informed approach with the guiding principle of the Buddhist saying: “No mud, no lotus.” It’s the idea of transforming suffering. Even a beautiful flower like the lotus needs mud to grow and blossom. I enjoy collaborating with clients to support them in working through the mud, gaining insight, and developing skills to increase their resiliency, inner safety, and overall wellness.
