About My Clients
I am drawn to working with adolescents, adults, and families. I have a passion for working with BIPOC, neurodivergent folx, and LGBTQIA+ communities. My mission is to help to heal complex traumas, environmental inequities, and address intersections of identity unique to our experiences. And to show up as you would anywhere! Whether i'd be your introduction to therapy or an attempt at a new approach, I am excited to be on your team.
My Background and Approach
My approach with therapy has been often described as "eclectic" which from my understanding is that I pull from varying therapeutic approaches to be able to tailor treatment to the person I am working with. In my years in the clinical field, I have learned how to facilitate individual and group therapy practices that are "evidence based". I am also aware that these practices, while having useful techniques, have historically not been tailored for the populations that I serve. I feel that, as a professional, I have a responsibility to make the tools that can be beneficial and to make them accessible for all. I value the principles of mental wellness while also diligently addressing the fact that current practices of psychotherapy have a lot of catching up to do to keep on track with current challenges that many folx face in our society. I also value humor and transparency. If there is something I don't know, I will try my best to find out or find you someone who does.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I actively work to create a space that is safe and encourages you to help find your most authentic self. I believe in changing what therapy is “supposed” to look like and who it is "supposed" to be for. I view relationships with my clients as a collaboration, asking you for your expertise on your life while I provide guidance through empowerment and advocacy. I believe you can heal through spaces you already navigate on a daily basis and through mediums you already know. Clients of mine would probably tell you I encourage laughter, movement, rage, silliness, and side tangents about your current special interests. Any and all welcome here!
