About My Clients
I work with adults and couples by helping them navigate their challenging past and current circumstances that revolve around life stressors, relationships, family, society, lifestyle choices, experiences, expectations and associated mental health stigma.
My Background and Approach
My training in foundational psychology, developmental psychology, behavioral psychology and theoretical approaches along with my experience working with a variety of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, sexual trauma, burnout, suicidal ideation, PTSD, relational conflict using my continuing educational training in expressive arts interventions, anxiety management, emotion focused therapy amongst others helps me provide an eclectic approach to cater to my clients’ varying needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy or counseling should cater to the individuality of a person and provide a personalized approach to the scary stage of counseling. As a counselor, I focus on the most important factor that is responsible for positive change and that is the Therapeutic Relationship. The Therapeutic Relationship is the foundation that fosters change. It is not just a space, it is a belief that honors the human connection in its entirety, without judgment. It harnesses the strength of support and helps create a new mindset by healing and nurturing the sore and seasoned inner wounds. My affirming stance had enabled me to develop some of the most effective therapeutic relationships with my LGBTQIA+ clients, same sex couples, and people of color due to my culturally sensitive approach.
