About My Clients
My clients are often thoughtful adults who have been carrying something heavy for a long time. Many navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, or identity-related stress. I have a particular passion for queer and LGBTQIA+ clients, including trans and non-binary adults, and I am proudly kink- and poly-affirming. I also work with veterans, older adults, and anyone who has felt they had to hide parts of themselves to survive.
My Background and Approach
I became a therapist because I needed one. I lost my mom at 18, and in the years that followed I struggled with anxiety and depression and reached for whatever would take the edge off. When I finally sat down with a therapist, it changed my life. Not because it fixed everything, but because for the first time I had a space to say the things I had never said out loud. I hold credentials as LCSW, CCM, and CFSW with 13 years of experience. My primary specialty is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based approach developed by an EMDR-trained therapist that processes trauma without requiring you to relive every painful detail. I also draw from ACT, DBT, CBT, somatic therapy, and mindfulness approaches, always tailored to you. I see everything through a trauma-informed lens and practice unconditional positive regard. I am direct when the moment calls for it and use humor in sessions when it helps, because therapy does not always have to be grim to be effective.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a gay man, I know what it is like to carry parts of yourself quietly for longer than you should have had to. That lived experience shapes how I show up in the room. Affirming care is not something I do. It is something I live. I believe people make sense when their history is understood in context. Symptoms are not character flaws. They are adaptive responses to things that were genuinely hard. I take a harm reduction approach to substance use and believe in personal autonomy. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, clear, and trusting of yourself, with less shame about how you got here. Outside the therapy room you will find me captaining my adult kickball team, playing card games, camping, swimming, and eating my way through new cities. Rock and metal concerts, travel, and yes, Fortnite. I believe in play, rest, and joy as part of a full life.
