About My Clients
My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, multiculturally inclusive, and body-positive. I have experience working with clients facing adjustment disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I work with clients of all ages.
My Background and Approach
I have a master's degree in art therapy and counseling, and I am a licensed professional counselor associate (LPC-A), as well as a provisionally registered art therapist (ATR-P). My dual background in counseling and art therapy allows me to incorporate a wide variety of therapeutic techniques in my work with clients. My personal therapeutic style centers the healing power of the creative process as well as a well-rounded sense of humor, pulling from therapeutic approaches such as third-wave cognitive behavioral therapy approaches (ACT, DBT), contemporary psychoanalysis, and client-centered therapy. My therapeutic approach always starts with a conversation about your wants and needs with treatment. From there, we'll work together to develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer clinician, I am a firm believer that there is no one "right" way to do life. True healing comes when we let go of the internalized boxes we place ourselves in. I love art and spend a lot of time creating in my free time. That being said, I believe that art therapy is all about taping into your inner creative, and the focus is on the process of creation itself, rather than on the end product. It is a joy for me as a therapist to witness the transformations that occur when clients use art as an avenue for self-expression and exploration. I am deeply spiritual and love to spend time in nature. Near my practice office, we have a wooded path that is available for us to use for "walk and talk" style sessions. We also have a therapy dog named "Clifford" who loves to meet new clients.
