About My Clients
It brings me joy to serve the Black, Latinx, and LGBTQIA+ communities. I work with men who are Black, Latinx, and/or identify as queer, part of the LGBTQIA+ community, or are questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity. Professionally, I am a Cognitive, Person centered, and Trauma informed therapist, but personally I’m a collaborator and friend of the healing process.
My Background and Approach
The modalities and approaches I use to support men in these communities are informed by my own experiences as a proud gay Black man, an Army veteran of the Iraq war, and the foster child of parents who struggled with addiction. I have specialized in: Trauma-informed care, Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapies, Person-centered treatment, Substance abuse, and Medication-Assisted Treatment counseling all with a culturally relevant approach and racial justice focus. There can be no world in which marginalized communities have no voice and our mental health matters. Together, we can work to challenge and reframe negative thoughts, healing from our trauma’s- while promoting self-acceptance and embracing positive behavioral change. We can challenge beliefs, engage in mindfulness and improve emotional regulation. I promote social, physical, and thinking exercises that raise emotional awareness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone should have Therapist/Counselor, to have a safe space to Be their TRUE selves. We are so much more than what time, circumstance, history, have made of us, now let's prove it .
