About My Clients
OFFERING DBT Teen Group Virtual Starting in December. My clients are individuals between the ages of 12 and 22 who are facing various daily life challenges. These challenges may include issues related to anxiety, depression, relationships, self-esteem, and communication skills. My Background and Approach
I'm Dr. Desiree Nicole, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, graduate from Kent State University. During my time as a nurse, I gravitated towards behavioral health and found myself drawn to this specialized area of nursing. It was through my experiences and interactions with individuals struggling with mental health issues that I discovered my true calling. I realized that I had a deep desire to help teens and young adults who often faced unique challenges and needed specialized care. In my practice, I have adopted a therapeutic style that emphasizes direct accessibility throughout the day, enabling my patients to reach out to me whenever they need guidance or support. I believe in bringing therapy to their environment, if necessary, understanding that comfort and familiarity can facilitate the therapeutic process. I provide them with the space and time to open up, fostering an atmosphere of trust and understanding. I am passionate about empowering my patients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has a voice. There is great value in being heard. I are here to listen and guide you to your next step. If this takes days, weeks, or years, we are here to support YOU. There are many benefits to participating in a DBT group, including: Support and understanding from others who are going through similar experiences. DBT groups provide a safe and supportive environment where teens can share their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Group members can also learn from each other's experiences and offer support and encouragement. Learning and practicing DBT skills in a real-world setting. Group members have the opportunity to practice the DBT skills they are learning in a supportive environment. Accountability and motivation. Group members can hold each other accountable for their progress and motivate each other to stay on track. Reduced feelings of isolation and loneliness.
