About My Clients

In my 20+ years as an activist, social worker & psychotherapist, I’ve worked with clients and colleagues who have cut across class, sexuality, gender, and ethnicity lines.

My Background and Approach

At Brendanmoor Therapy, I take a relational, client-centered, trauma-informed approach to individual, family, and couples therapy, while remaining eclectic and drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT, Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Attachment Theory. My style is casual, conversational and built on authenticity. It’s crucial to me that clinical jargon doesn’t get in the way of building trust and mutual understanding. At the same time, I want you to feel confident that my clinical skills have been honed over decades of formal education, experience, ongoing training, and research. I see the process of earning clients' trust as nothing short of an honor, & am devoted to building and sustaining clinical relationships that reflect this.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I was born in Passaic, NJ & have been endlessly fascinated with human behavior from my earliest memories. I began my career in the mid-90s working with those living with HIV as an activist in Newark & New Brunswick, NJ, where I engaged in harm reduction street outreach. This work informed my commitment to public health & to exploring how economic and sociological factors can play significant roles in the ways we move through the world. During this time, I researched the psychological effects of isolation and sensory deprivation while monitoring conditions in NJ state prisons, & organized events on criminal justice, human rights, & racial justice, as well as animal welfare issues. Since this time, I have worked with survivors of childhood physical & sexual abuse, adults & children with disabilities, & prisoners & veterans struggling with PTSD symptoms. I value the roles art, music, and humor play - both in the healing process & as avenues toward reaching one's full potential.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
