Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is not just for war veterans. Physical/Sexual/Emotional abuse. Neglect and Abandonment. Medical trauma. These are just some of the events that can lead to PTSD. But there is hope, we call it Post Traumatic Growth. Growing through and past the effects the events have had on you are incredibly rewarding. Let's start the journey together.
Suicidal thoughts can come to anyone, from the passive "I am hopeless" to the planning and implementing of a suicide attempt. I have worked extensive with those who have passive/active suicidal thoughts and those who have tried to kill themselves. Where do these thoughts come from? Is there hope? Absolutely, there is hope.
Grief and loss can look different to everyone. Grief, although Helen Kubler-Ross founded the 5 stages, does not go in a linear plane. Rather it may be more of a ball with a smaller ball inside. One moment sad, one moment denial, another anger. All those feelings are real and no one has a right to put a time limit or an expectation of completion to grief.
I have extensive training in EMDR working directly with attachment issues, trauma, military/veterans, law enforcement and other high stress jobs. EMDR is not only for trauma but can work with anxiety, depression, and life changes.
Trauma therapy, either cognitive processsing therapy or prolonged exposure is a way for those to talk through their trauma.
