About My Clients
While considering the whole person- heart, soul, mind and body, I have faith in you, the individual, trusting that you come to me already having the insight you need. While I use various strategies, an individualized approach is always needed, as each client, couple, and/or family, has unique concerns. I often use the expressive arts and ecotherapy to enhance the process. I am compassionate and sincere, and have the intuition to guide you through your own process.
My Background and Approach
Depth Emergence is a therapeutic model developed by Dr. Denise Maratos. It blends depth psychology, somatic awareness, and mindfulness-based approaches to help clients access deeper layers of the psyche in a gradual, regulated way. The term refers to the idea that deeper emotional material — early wounds, unconscious beliefs, implicit memories, and core self-states — naturally emerges when the nervous system feels safe enough. Rather than forcing insight, confronting trauma aggressively, and/or interpreting prematurely, the therapist creates conditions for material to unfold organically. A relational, somatically attuned approach that allows unconscious and developmental material to surface gradually and integrate safely.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I hold my PhD in Clinical Psychology with a Depth Psychology emphasis and I have a special interest in transpersonal and depth psychology, as well as psychodynamic, psychoanalytic and humanistic therapies, expressive arts therapies, and ecotherapy. I also conduct research on extraordinary human experiences, including spiritual emergence, the numinous, the transpersonal, extreme and/or peak experiences, often labelled as “psychosis”, “schizophrenia”, “dissociative identity”, etc., by the biomedical model, and have a personal investment in the Consumer/Survivor/Ex-patient (C/S/X) Movement (please see my presentations and research at Presentations & Research). www.depthemergence.com
