About My Clients
As an openly queer couples therapist in Nashville, I aim to help partners of all backgrounds and relationship structures find their own versions of relational health and create shared narratives that align with who they are and what they believe. I am also passionate about helping actors, musicians, dancers, writers, filmmakers and other artists cope with the challenges associated with being vulnerable for a living.
My Background and Approach
I hold a BFA in Musical Theatre from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and a Master's in Marriage and Family Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. I am trained in the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT) and specialize helping couples of all orientations attune more effectively to one another's nervous systems and develop mutually beneficial agreements that embody their shared purpose. In my work with individuals, I often utilize narrative techniques and feminist theory to help clients from marginalized backgrounds identify how cultural narratives have impacted their self-beliefs so they can craft more value-aligned identities. In session, I'm not afraid to call out the ways misogyny, racism, classism and —yes— even capitalism affect the health and well-being of my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I know what it's like to grow up "different" in a place like Williamson County. I know how hard it is to find a queer-affirming therapist, let alone a therapist who is actually queer themselves. I know how defeating it can be to pursue a career in the arts when the economic and political landscapes are marked by uncertainty. I sought out a career as an LGBTQ therapist in Nashville because I wanted to provide the services and support I didn't have access to growing up in this part of the country.
