I am a Registered Play Therapist. Play Therapy is a developmentally appropriated treatment modality for children. Children learn and express themselves through play. Like adult use word in talk therapy to communicate, children use toys and their play to communicate with the therapist. As the therapist, my job is to create a safe environment for the child to freely express themselves through their play. I use reflective response to let the child know that I understand them.

I have been trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. With CBT, I teach clients how their thoughts, emotions and behaviors are connected. I teach clients cognitive coping skill and help clients gain insight into their thought patterns that may be ineffective and can be contributing to their symptoms of anxiety and depression.

EMDR is an effective treatment for trauma. From Traumas with a big T to traumas with a little t, EMDR helps the brain heal and create new patterns to help desensitize the intense emotions associated with traumatic memories or experiences. EMDR also helps with addressing and finding relief for symptoms of anxiety, panic attack, depression, and many other mental health difficulties.

I have worked with many individuals who have struggled with severe depressive symptoms. Many of my clients have struggled with symptoms that severely impact their daily functioning such as not being able to get out of bed, lack of motivation or interest, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation, or survived suicide attempts. Through therapy many of my clients have found relief in their depressive symptoms and are able to be more engaged in their lives.

In my practice, I work with parents on strengthening their relationships with their children, whether they are young children, teens, or adults. I provide parents with effective parenting strategies that help guide them through the most challenging phases of parenthood. I understand that our relationships with our parents are the foundation of how we relate to the world and others so I strive to help parents learn healthy parenting skills to use in their relationship with their children.

In my practice, I have worked with people who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, violence, witnessed a loved one go through cancer or a chronic illness, lived in poverty, war, or experienced discrimination. I have extensive experience in helping people find relief from their post traumatic stress symptoms. My clients learn effective coping skills and are able to have healthy, vibrant lives.
