My Background and Approach
I am Deirdre Kuvaas, founder of Inner World Counseling Services, PLLC. As an LPCC, LADC, and LCMHC, I help adults navigate their roots of anxiety, childhood trauma and/or substance use via 100% virtual therapy in MN, OH, UT, and ND. I pride myself on creating a space that is genuinely warm, safe, and entirely non-judgmental. Because I believe everyone's brain is unique, I don't offer cookie-cutter treatments. My approach is to meet you exactly where you are with honesty and presence. I use proven tools like EMDR and CPT to help you dismantle the survival habits that once kept you safe but now leave you burned out. We go deep—moving beyond surface-level symptom management to address the core patterns that keep you stuck, all while providing the steady support you need to heal.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy shouldn't be another chore on your to-do list. For the "fixers" and "peacekeepers" of the world, life is already a constant performance. I view most "personality traits"—like being a perfectionist or a people-pleaser—as outdated survival habits. They worked once, but they’ve passed their expiration date. I’m here to be a real, human partner in your healing. I believe you deserve a space where you can stop "performing," say "no" without guilt, and finally say "yes" to your own life. Outside of the office, I’m deeply committed to the idea that mental health is a fundamental human right, not a luxury. I stand for equity and inclusivity, and my practice is a safe, affirming space for everyone. I’m a firm believer in the power of authenticity—what you see is what you get with me. When I’m not working, you can usually find me spending time with my husband, two children and my chocolate lab, Penny.
