About My Clients
You lie awake replaying something, checking, or bracing for a fear you can’t shake. Maybe you pick or pull and can’t explain why. Maybe a thought keeps showing up that feels too shameful to say out loud. You’ve likely tried therapy. For many things, talk therapy helps enormously, but for this it may have left you stuck. You weren’t doing it wrong. OCD, anxiety, BDD, and skin-picking or hair-pulling need treatment built for them, and that's the work I do every day.
My Background and Approach
I have specialized in the treatment of OCD and related disorders since 2015. Before that, I spent over twenty years treating eating disorders, where I first encountered the lesser-known subtypes of OCD. Seeing how much suffering it caused, I set out to learn to treat it well. I trained and became certified in treating OCD and related disorders through the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI), then spent over six years at the OCD Center of Los Angeles, working with hundreds of clients: children, adolescents, and adults. My focus is narrow on purpose. I treat OCD, anxiety disorders, body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs) like skin-picking and hair-pulling. Because these are all I treat, you get care built for exactly what you're facing. My work draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and compassion-based approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that with the right treatment, people can and do get better. For me, the right treatment rests on a therapeutic relationship that is safe, collaborative, and genuinely compassionate, free of judgment. Within that, my work is to teach people struggling with OCD and related disorders the tools that science has shown actually work, and to help them apply those tools to their own lives. Recovery isn’t the end goal in itself. It's what clears the space for the life you actually want to live.
