About My Clients
I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since 1990. I began my work addressing the impact of sexual abuse and physical violence and have since worked collaboratively with individuals to restore wellness that was negatively affected by a variety of traumatic experiences. I apply evidence-based approaches that are appropriate for the needs of the individual.
My Background and Approach
I began my journey as a therapist after practicing hospital nursing for a number of years. During my nursing experiences I learned how intimately physical and mental well-being are connected. I completed my graduate degree as a clinical nurse specialist in mental health and received certification from the American Nurses Certification Center. My initial patient population included survivors of physical and sexual abuse. for whom I provided individual and group therapies. My services have expanded to offer treatment for anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Continuing education and certification programs have supported my skills and expertise. My treatment approaches are individualized to promote autonomy and engagement. Interventions are based on addressing cognitive, emotional, and behavioral responses to stress and situational crises.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I apply evidence-based approaches that are tailored to meet the needs of each individual. The goal of therapy is self discovery to identify thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that foster fulfillment and flourishing.
