About My Clients
I enjoying working with clients (individuals + couples _ families) throughout the developmental spectrum, previous experience has included those ages 3-60+. I use humor and optimism when appropriate. I work especially well with adolescents, college students, and graduate/medical students. My clients are often struggling with familial relationships, romantic relationships, life transitions, identity issues, multicultural issues, and/or overcoming trauma.
My Background and Approach
*Currently all sessions are conducted online via a HIPAA secure video platform. I am licensed in NY/NJ and a PSYPACT authorized provider (which means I can provide therapy in 40+ states) In my work, I strive to use a client-centered, strengths-based approach as I believe that each person who seeks me out is unique and deserves a tailored approach to match their needs and personality. Through my doctorate program, I was trained in a variety of treatment approaches (CBT, psychodynamic/relational, attachment, parent-child interaction therapy, DBT, mindfulness) and use aspects of these approaches based on the needs of the client. I've been described as calm and down-to-earth and tend to use a casual approach. I work with you to discuss what works and what doesn't.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I enjoy working and have experience working with those from LGBTQ backgrounds through affirmative therapy. It's important to me to work with people of a variety of multicultural backgrounds and I believe in the importance of getting to know how your multicultural background might be impacting your identity and mental health. I also believe that everyone deserves access to therapy regardless of financial means.
