About My Clients
My clients are adult individuals seeking mental wellness to show up fully for their relationships, families, work, and all the identities important to them. I work with couples wanting to make their relationships stronger and to learn new, productive ways to address conflict. I work with families in transition and am particularly interested in families navigating divorce and other major life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I use evidence-based methods that rigorous scientific research shows to be effective with individuals, couples, and families. I have completed the Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 1 training and Level 2 training on shame, anxiety, and depression. I have trained in EMDR. I am Gottman Couples Method Level 1 and 2 trained. I have also completed training in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and virtual counseling. I have had extensive training in providing culturally-competent counseling. I have a special interest in the Latinx community and in those wishing to incorporate their spirituality into therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I chose to be a psychotherapist because I have personally experienced the power of counseling. While our experiences influence us, our circumstances do not need to define us. At the center of counseling is the relationship between client and therapist. You are the expert on yourself, not me. I will walk alongside you, with full support and completely absent of judgment, as you journey toward your goals. Self-exploration can be frightening, and you will not be exploring alone. More I want you to know about me: - I believe we already have within us everything we need to grow into the person we want to be. - Relationships are hard! And we are hard-wired to be in relationships with ourselves and with others. - Neuroscience is mind-boggling (pun intended). The discoveries over the last 30 years about how our brains work and change are overshadowed only by the discoveries the next 30 years will provide. My practice is informed by the insight neuroscience brings.
