Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Madison, AL
I have a very strong background in cognitive behavioral therapy due to my first work in the field (as a bachelor level social worker) focusing on behavioral modification. My work is heavily influenced by my understanding of the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behavior and I've had the opportunity to help children, teens, and adults address various issues through cognitive behavioral treatment. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the preferred approach for many particular problems.
Experience working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse since 1994. Experience treating other types of trauma, including that which results from military service and the occupational exposure that First Responders encounter. Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I understand that there is a difference between self-harm and suicidal behavior and have experience helping people learn adaptive coping strategies.
I have inside knowledge of Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder (and when the hyperactive piece is absent, too).
