About My Clients

Most of my clients are LGBTQ+ adults and teens/adolescents. I generally see folx who have anxiety, depression, anger issues, and trauma, which generally all results from childhood trauma and lifespan stress. My clients are people who are trying to better understand why they do what they do and how to be better.

My Background and Approach

I use a combination of Psychodynamic, CBT, and Relational-Cultural Therapy to work with clients. I find it is a very thorough and holistic approach that allows us to look at your past and history in the context in which it occurred, plus giving you concrete strategies to help you in the here and now.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am an active member of the LGBTQ+ community and am an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education at Eastern Michigan University. In my role there, I research LGBTQ+ resilience and thriving and teach future counselors how to be counselors. Many people view minorities from a deficit model and I think that is so problematic - as I believe that despite the minority stress that sexual and gender minorities experience on the daily, most still thrive and persevere - a positive quality that must be highlighted and nurtured to change the narrative around the LGBTQ+ community.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
