About My Clients
Pregnancy is a complex and transformative journey that extends far beyond the moment of conception and the birth of a child. And maybe you've noticed you don't feel quite like yourself; anxious, depressed, numb. How can I feel like this and be a good mother? Why do I feel this way? If those are some of the feelings or thoughts you're having, I hope you'll reach out. You don't have to do this alone. You ARE a good mother who needs help finding her joy again.
My Background and Approach
For over a decade, I worked in top healthcare organizations providing therapeutic interventions during someone's best and worst days. I spent hours with mothers in labor and delivery, and postpartum units and with those whose babies were in the NICU. This deeper understanding of the magnitude of experiences mothers can have throughout their pregnancy as well as during and after delivery helps guide my therapeutic practice. Additionally, I have specialized training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International . It can take time to be vulnerable in therapy and you will have that time. When working with me, you will feel comfortable, not clinical. We will discuss your both your history and current concerns so that I can best guide you toward your therapy goals. I have a calm, relaxed approach that stems from both empathy and compassion as well as my own lived experiences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in "holding" the mother and providing space for you to be comfortable sharing those thoughts and feelings that are likely making you doubt your abilities in relation to being a mom. Through my own postpartum experience, I saw how isolating and scary it can be for some. I am a passionate advocate for the education and care needed for maternal mental health. I am a current member of Postpartum Support International with ongoing communication to volunteer my local state chapter. I am committed to continuing my own growth and education to further benefit the perinatal population and support their mental health treatment.
