Deanna Casper

I was originally an elementary school teacher but quickly realized that there was a better career path in my future. I went back to school to get my masters in counseling. I spent my internship for grad school and the years after working in various inpatient treatment centers in South Florida. Although it was challenging at times working in a high-needs environment, I truly enjoyed every minute. For various reasons, I decided to leave the inpatient treatment world and move on to the next part of my journey. I have utilized the immense knowledge, patience, and empathy I have gained in that environment and brought it into my private practice. I use a variety of modalities and methods however I believe that ultimately therapy boils down to the rapport I have with you. I have been told by my clients that I am non judgemental, warm, and genuine. I also like to incorporate humor into my work (I used to do stand up comedy) as a way to foster rapport.

I believe that everyone is capable of change. My job is not to change you but to guide you to change yourself. You are the expert on yourself not me. This is why I believe that therapy must be a collobrative experience. Although our society has come a long way, I do believe that there is still a large stigma around mental health especially addiction. I voluteer and do advocay work within my community to educate others and break stigmas. I believe having hobbies and interests are extremely important. My interests are musical theater (I have seen over 50 Broadway shows), spending time with family, and napping. If you have any further questions about me or my approach please feel free to reach out.
