About My Clients

I enjoy working with people who want to improve their communication, connection, and friendship with those in their lives. I am compassionate and direct, and I focus on helping you interrupt unhelpful patterns of behavior. I want to introduce new skills, and build upon existing skills for connecting. I believe that important relationships take many forms and welcome the complexity and diversity of human relationships.

My Background and Approach

Whether you seek couples therapy, individual therapy, family therapy or parent coaching, I promise to provide a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for you to express yourself and feel understood. My approach to therapy is intentionally direct, yet gentle and collaborative as I encourage my clients to see the areas where they want change and help guide them through the steps to move in that direction. To my work as a therapist, I bring not only my education and training in the Gottman Method, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Experiential Therapy, but my own experience confronting and overcoming personal and family challenges.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

We’re all doing the best we can with the relationship tools we have. Sometimes those tools aren’t very helpful; our parents weren’t good role models, or our perceptions and judgments are flawed, or our beliefs and points of reference get in our way. This leads to feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. What you want is relief from suffering, strength to overcome challenges, and understanding and support. I am here to provide a safe environment to say the hard things and hear your needs while discussing sensitive matters. In studying Non-Violent Communication, I have seen that there is truth in conflict. It lets us know that something needs to change if we are to get our needs met and effective change will lead to more harmonious lives. But only if we choose to frame it that way. At its best it can bring people closer. Contact me to learn more about how I can help.
