Accepting Clients

Hi, I’m Dax, and I’m a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, and a counselor who is also queer and disabled.

About My Clients

I enjoy working with clients who feel hesitant or weary about counseling services. Maybe they've had bad experiences in the past, or they find it hard/strange to trust someone. Many of my clients have been given the impression in the past that their problems are too big/scary for therapy, or that they need to learn to live with their discomfort. I want to help my clients build trust within the therapeutic process and help them believe that they can feel better.

My Background and Approach

I am a certified clinical trauma therapist through the International Trauma Institute. I am also in the process of completing an extensive professional training program through the International Society for the Study of Dissociation and Trauma that focuses specifically on the treatment of dissociation and complex post traumatic stress. Before starting at Summit Therapy, I had over six years of experience helping clients navigate mental health care services. I have worked with clients who were struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, substance use issues, recent psychiatric hospitalizations, as well as refugees and asylum seekers struggling with the impact of the trauma.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that counseling should be focused in harm reduction, non-pathology, and destigmatization. In the therapeutic relationship, you are the expert in your experience and it is my role to help support you in achieving your goals. My approach highlights our humanity and our need for autonomy and self-determination.
