About My Clients
Dawn's clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds. They are veterans, LGBTIQA+, and multi-cultural. Many of the client's come needing assistance with identity, depressive and anxious symptoms, and help navigating their unique and beautiful place in this world.
My Background and Approach
Dawn has experience with adults, adolescents, and children and has worked in community mental health, detention centers, and a public hospital. Dawn enjoys working with diverse populations (e.g., BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Veterans), validating their experiences, and assisting them with achieving their goals and personal growth. Areas of therapeutic intervention with adolescents range from emotional awareness to anger management to transitioning to adulthood, and she has experience treating a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, social skills, self-esteem, and behavior management. Dawn uses an integrative approach to therapy including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), as well as using creative tools to tailor treatment to an individual’s needs. Dawn believes in the Rogerian therapeutic relationship of genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and understanding and provides a warm environment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Dawn doesn't believe in cookie cutter therapy and that the client is the expert in their own lives. Dawn works with the client to find solutions tailored for their unique situations.
