About My Clients
I help not only individuals but work extensively with couples, teens, and families to resolve interpersonal challenges and restore harmony in relationships. Loneliness, growing distance in partnerships, chronic conflict, infidelity, pornography issues, and other addictions have all been a large part of my practice. I also work well and extensively with teenagers dealing with the variety of challenges that come with those transitional years. I also help those open to spiritual healing.
My Background and Approach
I am a "recovering attorney", having practiced law in what feels like a past life. I've been a guest on Lifetime Television's morning show, The Balancing Act, and was interviewed on numerous radio shows. I've given talks on psychology, spirituality, and improving couples relationships and have facilitated A Course in Miracles study groups. I led "Flying Solo", a separation and divorce support group and authored a holistic magazine column on relationships via a spiritual lens. I have written numerous articles which are available on my website, coachtherapist.net. I use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) - often referred to as "tapping", hypnotherapy, EMDR for trauma and anxiety, and employ an IFS parts-based orientation to "inner child" work. Healing occurs on an energetic level. My approach is down-to-earth, humanistic, compassionate and interactional. As a therapist and a life coach, I give "homework" for clients to explore new paradigms and progress between sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The vast majority of universities training psychotherapists historically have not provided the essential skill-sets and tools because so many models of psychological change are still antiquated. I focus on pragmatic, solution-focused approaches including cognitive, somatic, and energy-based techniques.
