About My Clients
Do you feel trapped in a story that you don't like? Do you feel powerless, misunderstood, or lacking in some way? So much of what we experience is the result of the stories we believe about ourselves. Often, we don't examine these stories to see if they're true. I want to help you break through to a more genuine understanding of yourself. We'll look for your strengths, abilities, and true interests and we'll work to discover how you can rise above the limitations you currently perceive.
My Background and Approach
Whether you are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, or relationship issues, I warmly welcome you to reach out and take the first steps toward a new, clearer, and more satisfying life. To me, your interest in doing therapy is an act of courage and I want to support and facilitate your journey of self-discovery. Using EMDR, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy, and other methods, I can help you build a better path for yourself. Together, we'll seek to understand what you're struggling with and find solutions that move you forward. To me, the therapy journey should be safe, include liberal doses of humor, and help you feel able to face what is currently difficult or daunting in your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that it is so often the case that the past is showing up in and trying to run the present. Whether through ingrained habits, addictions, internalized scripts, or the aftermath of trauma, so many of us struggle to meet the present in its own terms. We too often feel overwhelmed and limited and make choices that don't truly serve us. Or we engage in behaviors that cause us pain and difficulty. My job is to help you discover and remove the roadblocks in your life and to be able to make better choices in the present. I use mindfulness, EMDR and other trauma modalities, narrative therapy, and other tools to help you live more fully. My approach is collaborative and based on unconditional positive regard. I'm part of an interfaith community that values diversity and respects all walks in life.
