About My Clients
You may look like you have it together while feeling stuck, anxious, disconnected, or unsure why the same patterns keep repeating. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship struggles, parenting, divorce, career changes, and other moments when life no longer feels quite right. Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware but sense there is something they haven't been able to see clearly on their own.
My Background and Approach
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in New York and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois, and I’ve worked with individuals and couples for more than a decade. My approach is primarily psychodynamic, meaning we look beyond the immediate problem to understand the patterns, defenses, relationships, and experiences that shape how you see yourself and respond to the world. I’m also direct. Therapy with me isn’t simply about feeling validated or learning techniques to manage symptoms. I’ll help you notice the assumptions you may be making, the blind spots you may not be able to see, and the ways you may be participating in patterns that leave you feeling stuck. We’ll look at what is happening beneath the surface while staying grounded in the reality of your life today. The goal isn’t to tell you who to be or how to live. It’s to develop enough understanding and perspective that you have more choice in how you respond—to yourself, your relationships, and your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that insight matters, but insight alone isn't enough. We can understand why we became the way we are and still remain caught in the same patterns. Real change requires being willing to look honestly at ourselves—including the parts that are uncomfortable, contradictory, or difficult to see. I also believe that people have more agency than they often feel they do. We don't get to choose everything that happens to us, or everything we've inherited from our past, but we can become more aware of how we're participating in our lives and relationships. For me, therapy is ultimately about developing that awareness and using it to make more deliberate choices.
