About My Clients

Gay and lesbian people face difficult intersections between sexual diversity; trauma; religion, faith and spirituality; and conflicting cultural and relational demands. Stress, hypervigilance, shame, anxiety, depression and mental confusion are very common in our community. But you have an amazing ability to heal, grow, and thrive if given the right support. Sometimes the work feels really good. Other times it can be painful. But it's always done with kindness and compassion.

My Background and Approach

Since 1996 I’ve helped LGBTQ adults navigate anxiety, shame, and religious trauma. I work at the intersection of sexuality, faith, and family using EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Brainspotting. I often work with coming-out and identity integration, conversion-therapy recovery, and the challenges of mixed-orientation marriages. My approach is relational and practical. Drawing on deep lived experience and nearly three decades in practice, I use evidence-based modalities with steady compassion to calm the nervous system, harmonize inner parts, and rewrite shame-laden scripts—moving you from confusion to clarity. With moment-to-moment attunement, I tailor each session: processing traumatic memories, exploring inner conflicts, or evaluating life options so progress feels targeted and useful. If you want support that respects your values, let’s chart a path forward together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My practice is built on dignity, autonomy, and compassion. I believe people heal best when they’re seen as whole—capable of growth, clarity, and resilience. I welcome the complex places where sexuality, faith, family, and trauma intersect, and I meet you there with steadiness and care. Sessions are collaborative and kind; I listen closely, reflect honestly, and say what needs to be said. Your values—not mine—set the course. I trust your innate resilience and use evidence-based modalities—including EMDR, IFS, and Brainspotting—to support authentic change at a sustainable pace. Above all, my intention is to champion your authentic self—to restore a felt sense of safety, loosen shame’s grip, and help you build a life aligned with who you are. Therapy can be joyful and hard; either way, it’s held with loving-kindness, clear boundaries, and practical steps toward freedom.
