About My Clients
My clients are adults living through an ending the world expects them to be over. Sometimes it's a marriage that's ended or is ending — still in the legal grind, or years past the decree and unsure why it still hurts. Sometimes there's no paperwork at all: a beloved animal gone, a parent or adult child now estranged, a future they'd built around and lost. What they share is grief that got no ritual and no permission. The event resolved something the feelings didn't.
My Background and Approach
I've been practicing for twenty years, and my work has centered throughout on attachment — how early relationships shape the way we connect, and why loss and separation can destabilize us so profoundly. My training is in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Focusing-Oriented Therapy, both experiential approaches: rather than only talking about feelings, we slow down and turn toward what's actually here, in the body as much as the words. Much of what surfaces after an ending is grief, even when it doesn't look like grief — and the work isn't to hurry you through it, but to make room for it, so it can move at its own pace instead of the one everyone else expects.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
So many of these endings carry a quiet verdict — that someone failed, gave up too easily, or is grieving something that doesn't warrant it. I don't work that way. I'm a humanist at heart: I assume every feeling and every position made sense to the person holding it, at the time they held it. That includes the decision to leave and the wish to stay, and the grief that looks "too big" for what was lost. My job isn't to grade what happened. It's to help you understand what it cost and what you want to build now.
