About My Clients
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder can be a complex, challenging, and exhausting condition to face on your own. Often an experienced hand is necessary to guide you from illness to health. Exposure-based treatments for OCD are a critical foundation which can be enhanced by mindfulness-based tactics and inference-based techniques (I-CBT). Clients who are curious, motivated, and dedicated to getting well often find their way back greater peace of mind.
My Background and Approach
I am a former Assistant Director of the mid-Atlantic treatment center for obsessive-compulsive disorder and its Director of Training. I am also the author of "Healing from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Mindfulness-Enhanced CBT Approach to Regaining Control and Restoring Peace of Mind" (Keuler, 2020). I incorporate exposure and response prevention (ERP) as a foundational skill and build upon that foundation with mindfulness-based interventions and decades of experience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The experience of OCD and other mental health conditions is often a lonely experience. Locating a therapist who is knowledgeable and compassionate can be challenging. I approach each individual as an individual, recognizing that no two presentations are ever identical. Therapy should be fun, creative, and effective. I treat all clients with utmost respect and support their dignity and wishes throughout the therapy process.
