David Kearby

As a board certified clinical social worker, I am trained to work with mental health concerns as well as everyday problems. I graduated from Indiana University in 2009 with my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and in 2011 with my Master of Social Work (MSW) specializing in mental health. I have interned and been employed in addiction facilities, a state psychiatric hospital, a university psychiatric clinic and group private practice. I have a wide range of experience working with many individuals presenting with a broad range of concerns. I am able to draw on my diverse experiences in order to develop a treatment approach best suited for each patient. I don't believe there is a "one size fits all approach" to therapy & counseling. To that end, I employ techniques that explore past experiences, problematic thought processes, relationship issues that may be causing current suffering and anxiety due to every day stressors. My goal is to create a unique experience for a unique you!

I believe strongly in the dignity and worth of each person. When you enter my office, my first goal is to begin developing a working relationship with you and to inquire about what you think the issue may be. Each person is an expert in his or her own life and has developed strengths to overcome obstacles. It is my job is to draw on these strengths in order to help you accomplish your goals. While I work with individuals from all religious, ethnic, socioeconomic, gender and sexual backgrounds, I am especially concerned with disenfranchised individuals who may not feel society values their input. I am especially interested in gay & lesbian concerns, women's issues and gender identity. Rest assured, no matter what your background, I will partner with you to help you overcome your struggles.
