About My Clients
How do we become more fully ourselves, more fully present and alive to one’s thoughts and feelings, and better aware of our own unique creative potentials? The path to this can lead to myriad emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, confusion, indecision about career, substance misuse, and other slings and arrows from life. I help those who struggle with issues related to trauma, interpersonal issues related to family, race, personality disorders, and other behavioral health.
My Background and Approach
I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy that explores ways to make positive change in your life. We can work on behavioral changes but also a deeper exploration of the origins of what makes you do the things you do. My approach to therapy helps folx explore these issues through treatment that is empathetic, inclusive, and analytically informed. I work from a non-judgmental stance since I understand how difficult it can be to express vulnerabilities to another. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated from NYU with a Master’s degree in social work. I have nine years of experience working in community-based mental health as well as substance use treatment. This means that treatment is more than just mental health or substance use but also grounds the therapy in your community, relationships, and other circumstances that make your situation unique.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Psychotherapy should be accessible to everyone. I believe it should be inclusive, culturally sensitive, and be mindful about how difficult it can be to share one’s vulnerabilities with another. My background is as a social worker working in the community. Aside from my own racial identity, my training is culturally informed with familiarity with working with diverse races, ethnicity, cultures, backgrounds, and the ambiguities that can lead these issues to not quite fit into one category.
