About My Clients
My clients are people who are often in pain because of issues in their lives that seem, at times, too difficult to deal with alone. They're looking for practical solutions to trauma, often from unresolved childhood issues. Some come with relationship concerns; anger, frustration or even depression are common; often I find they are sincerely open to change, which is an essential element if therapy is to be productive. Helping others find more meaningful ways of coping is deeply satisfying for me.
My Background and Approach
If you find that you are struggling in your life, I believe the effort you are making in every moment is meaningful and valuable. Whatever you may be going through, however painful or distressing, can become a bridge; one that helps you to continue to grow as a person - that is all a part of our shared, human, journey to healing. In my own journey, in my own development, I have sought out various constructive approaches to becoming a whole and healthy human being. This led me to pursuing a Masters of Counseling (with Independent Licensure), and completing a number of other professional training programs (which are ongoing). My toolbox also includes EMDR (incorporating bi-lateral movement) and trauma-informed therapies; several modules of Hypnotherapy training via the Erickson Foundation and Southwest Institute of Healing Arts and Cognitive-Behavioral coping skills. I also make use of other therapy modalities, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe it is possible for people to access hidden resources within themselves that can move them in the direction of positive change. I believe that deep inside us, we all want to be healthy; and that we all want to live lives that are constructive and satisfying, both for our own personal growth and for our relationships with others. I believe, as a wise philosopher once said 'If on some day, we find no miracle in our life, we have merely overlooked it.'
