My Background and Approach
I help people brand new to therapy, and people looking for a therapist that really “gets them”. As we talk, I want to make sure you feel understood, respected, and cared for. Meeting a new therapist can be stressful! So I will check in with you frequently to gauge how you are feeling, and make sure I’m really “getting it”. I have years of experience working with teens in schools, first as a teacher and then school mental health services. I learned everyone has a unique learning style and energy level. Some like calm conversation. Some need a game or to use their hands while we talk. The goal is for you to be comfortable and relaxed. But when things get serious, know that I am calm and supportive. We work as team to decide what you want to work on. Thanks to training from awesome therapists, I have experience with a variety of powerful tools. So whether you want help with anxiety, depression, a habit, or a relationship issue, we have a tool that will fit you and your unique style!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a lifelong learner, curious about so many things! My more frequent interests involve music, DIY projects and cooking! Whatever the passion project, I'm playing music in the background. That's partly why I love working with teens and young adults. It is a life stage full of trying new things, having cool interests and unique music playlists! I'm open minded to change, new ideas and different perspectives. I want to provide a safe space for groups that face extra barriers to care, like teens, immigrants, LGBTQ+ and Spanish speaking populations. I have always loved to read books about made up worlds, and our crazy real world! I believe stories connect us as humans. Our therapy is a safe space to understand your story. I love to see the beauty within the toughest parts of your story. I don't discriminate against anyone and I accept all for who they authentically are.
