About My Clients

It can be so difficult to find a therapist! For much of our lives, we're encouraged to keep our feelings to ourselves, to move on quickly from any unpleasantness, and to trust what everyone else has to say about our situations. When we enter therapy, it can be jarring to be expected to let all of that go so quickly. I want to work at your pace as you rebuild trust in yourself by reconnecting with emotions, with your body, with your values and needs and desires.

My Background and Approach

When you’re ready, together we can utilize practices that explore somatic (of the body), cognitive (of the mind), behavioral (habits), and relational (interpersonal, community) tools to help us understand what your internal decision-making looks like. Bringing things to the surface by speaking and experiencing them, and not just being listened to but also having the time to listen to ourselves, is what empowers us to play around with changing our patterns. I work with a harm reduction and existentialist approach. This means I explore the unique individual experiences you've had and center your autonomy, dignity, and agency. I'm here to listen and offer what I think could be helpful, but YOU make the decisions of what directions you want to go in, what your goals are, and what tools you want to build on. My approach has worked especially well with clients who want to change their substance use, other behavioral habits, and with folks who want to work through complex trauma.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

We all grow up and live our lives impacted by the systems that surround us, it's nearly impossible to tune out of the messaging that can be really damaging to our sense of self and our relationships with others. So many issues that live in this world of mental health carry a stigma and sense of shame. When we are able to look that stigma and shame in the face and peel away those layers, we can get to the real heart of our struggles and learn the often goofy and against-the-grain wisdom that our bodies and inner selves want to tell us. I volunteer my time to work with harm reduction organizations and to fight for collective liberation. My counseling work is deeply rooted in abolishing the colonial attitudes we've ingested.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
