My Background and Approach

His goal is to provide a person centered approach to empower the client to recognize their own strengths and use their own autonomy to enact their change process, while also helping the client increase awareness of the various social and cultural factors that influence their view of the world around them. Darren also uses evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy , Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to equip individuals with tools to aid in change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that society likes to place things automatically into "good" and "bad", "right" and "wrong" and rigid binaries, while in reality the world is so much more nuanced and there is a more a gray area than we believe. Causes I stand for is for closing equity gaps and human rights, including the Black Lives Matter movement, LGBTQIA+ equality, Free Palestine movement, and Trans RIghts Movement. I also personally have volunteered for Crisis Text Line, and am an active member of LGBT non profits as well as Black non profit organizations
